Best bluetooth in it's catagory! 2010-08-15 |
| By M. Schrotberger (Northern CA) |
After owning a Motorola H715 bluetooth headset for almost 2 years, this will be my first review.
Due to the unfortunate loss of my Motorola H700, I was forced to upgraded to the H715. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the H700 and I was hoping the H715 would give me as good or better performance. I am happy to say it has not let me down!
The things the I like about the Motorola H715 is the new black color. It is not as shiny and easily noticed as the H700. It is easy to attach it to my ear. So easy, that I can do it with one hand, even while driving. It is very comfortable to wear. The arm that holds the unit to the ear is made of two things. The first half is made of a firm plastic that sits on top of the ear. The second half of the arm is made of a soft, rubbery silicone that actually holds the unit firmly on the ear. In the past, other bluetooth devices I have used in the past had arms that were made of stiff plastic that irritated the skin behind my ear. This is not the case with the H715. It is so comfortable, I often forget that I have it on. My wife is constantly looking at my ear and saying, "Please, take that thing off!" When the unit is turned on, it connects to my mobile phone quickly and easily, usually within 3 - 4 seconds. Occasionally, it will lose its pairing with my cell. If this happens, I just close the boom, turning the unit off. I wait 5 seconds, open it again and it automatically pairs with my cell phone.
About 6 months ago, I purchased a bluetooth enabled wireless home phone, the AT&T EP5632. This was based on my interest in using a hands free bluetooth device while at home and away. Once I have the H715 paired with my Samsung cell and the AT&T land line, it picks up all the incoming calls to both phones. For outgoing calls, I just dial the number on either phone and the H715 picks up on all outgoing call without a problem. I have rarely missed an incoming or outgoing call in the past 6 months, since both phones have been paired with the H715!
If I could say anything against the Motorola H715, it would be to improve the durability of the soft, flexible silicone arm that holds the unit onto the ear. The surface has begun to peel in a couple small places. This is not a deal breaker, since it is 2 years old. I figure it has been taken off and put on my ear several hundred times. Since the arm is hidden behind the ear while wearing it, its condition is not visible until it's taken off anyway. It may be that the silicone cannot stand up to the oils produced by the skin and hair. Another area of improvement would be in it's size. Reducing the size of the unit will definitely be a plus. But as long as the unit is mounted outside the ear, please don't take away the swing arm that turns on(open) and turns off(close) the unit! I will always love this feature!!!
There you have it, my experience with the Motorola H715 bluetooth headset. I have enjoyed it very much and I will continue purchasing Motorola headsets based on my past experience. Since several states now require drivers to use a bluetooth device with their cell phones, I highly recommend this unit to all bluetooth users and soon to be bluetooth users!

Don't Drop IT! 2010-04-13 |
| By Larry V. Reitz Jr. (USA) |
This is a great item. It charges quickly and if you leave it folded up, it will last for days on one charge, depending on how much you use it. The service from this seller was quick. I got this for a great price, and the shipping time was fast.
Don't drop one of these. They are fragile and will crack like an egg, if they hit concrete, or anything solid. I know that no one intends to drop these things, but if you are as active as I am; it happens. |
BEST VALUE - Excellent use with short battery life 2010-03-25 |
| By Michael Scipione |
Pros:
1. Excellent user experience - Flip on, Flip off, fast and easy.
2. Light weight - No Pain wearing it for over 4 hours.
3. They can hear me just fine as if I wasn't using it all
Cons:
1. Battery life could be longer, like twice as long.
2. Volume buttons are not large enough for large fingers.
3. Can't listen to music through Bluetooth.
This is my 8th Bluetooth headset. A couple fouled out, couldn't hold a charge, some got lost in the washing machine (and survived a few weeks) and finally a few were fakes, grrr...(hammer time!!!)
I love this item at this price. I purchased 3. Every item worked perfect except for 1 bad charger. Since I kept the H710 charger, it worked fine on the H715 headset. I see no noticeable changes from the H710 to the H715 model. Regardless, thumbs way up to Moto for the H715. |
Check the delivered item closely! 2010-03-17 |
| By R. Davenport (San Jose) |
| Ordered this as a replacement for a H715 that had broken. I took it out, charged it up and was pairing it when I noticed that the ear wrap (whatever you call the thing that goes behind your ear) was covered in grease. Smelled it and it was someone's hair dressing, very tacky. Then I checked the model number and discovered it was a H710, not the H715 that I ordered. Someone decided to upgrade their personal bluetooth when they were putting this on in the "Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging". Amazon needs to have a discussion with their supplier or warehouse on this one. I have to go wash the grease off my hands or I would write more. |
Easiest fit, easiest operation 2009-09-07 |
| By Tor Slettnes (SF Bay Area, USA) |
The best thing about the Motorola H700 series is the way you operate them. When the boom is closed, the headset is off; you open to turn on and connect to the phone. If you are doing this while a call is coming in, it automatically picks up the call. Because it connects faster than most other Bluetooth headsets on the market (about 5-6 seconds), it is perfectly reasonable to leave this headset off when you are not using it - unlike most others which are best left in "standby" mode, thus consuming battery power. This also eliminates the confusion associated with most other headsets -- is your headset off or in standby? (I.e. do you need to turn it on, wait for it to connect to the phone - something which is usually a more time-consuming operation than with this one, and THEN pick up, or just pick up?)
Other things I like about this one:
* Standard µUSB (micro-USB) charging port; same standard as most recent phones from Motorola, Nokia, etc -- also set to be the worldwide standard by 2012.
* Nice, easy fit, also does not fall off easily. (If I have one complaint, it is that the fit is TOO easy.. I don't feel like it's there....)
One issue with the earlier H700 headset was a very short range; you would get static if you had your phone in your pocket, as opposed to holding it in your hand. The H710/H715 are better in this respect. Also, noise cancellation seems to continuously improve with each new model -- the voice is crystal clear on both ends.
All in all I have only good things to say about this one.
