Ok While it Worked 2009-10-16 |
| By Queen of the Rodeo (TX, USofA) |
This phone worked fine for a few months of light usage then began to turn itself off randomly multiple times during the day and night on a fully-charged battery. Missed calls and wakeup alarms make this not even worth it's cost.
EDIT: After reading various forums on cell phones and their problems, I found a comment from a guy who had this phone and who had the same problem with it cutting off. Seems the battery stops making contact and doesn't fit snug as it should. He said he'd used a slip of paper, folded, to wedge the battery in tighter.
I did the same and have had no more problems.
Yes, it's still not the easiest phone to see or hear but it's serving it's purpose and not turning itself off.
I suggest the paper trick if your fully-charged cell keeps turning off unexpectedly. |
Great Cheap Phone 2009-09-23 |
| By A. Tillett (Philadelphia, PA) |
I bought one of these on sale for next to nothing when my Siemens S66 was on the fritz. I intended to use it only briefly until I found a phone to replace the Siemens. Nearly a year later I am still on the 2610 and have no complaints.
Volume during a call is easily managed by tapping left or right on the main directional pad. A contact is added by typing the number and then hitting the soft key for Save. Or the contact list can be directly be accessed by pressing down on the d-pad. Ringer volume is adjusted with a graphical slider under Settings->Tones. The T9 prediction allows me to send quick text messages, as quickly as on my Siemens or other phones. Battery life is great. I talk on it roughly an hour a week, and text message frequently, and a battery recharge is still only a once or twice per week event.
The low screen resolution (128x128), lack of camera and lack of bluetooth are some negatives. Going in at such a cheap purchase price, those were things that I could live without until upgrading.
The battery life, small footprint and overall usability are making this phone last longer than I had planned.

Frustrating phone 2009-07-03 |
| By D. Biberdorf (Central Pennsylvania, USA) |
I bought one of this to use while in an area where my regular carrier offered only poor service. The phone is a compact, candy bar type phone.
Pros: inexpensive, good battery life, solid audio quality, speaker phone.
Cons: no side volume controls, crummy display, HORRIFIC user interface.
It's the user interface that is the deal killer here. To add a contact: Menu, Address Book, Names, Options, Add new contact, Last name, Next, First name, Next, Phone, Next, Save. To add a second phone to that contact (where you left off): Options, Add detail, Number, Home, enter number, Next, Save.
EVERYTHING is this cumbersome. Just try finding a convenient way to change the ringer volume. Changing the ring tones took me several attempts. Entering text for an SMS message is just plain tedious.
The phone would be fine as a backup or emergency phone. I've had this one for two days and am ready to apply the 3-pound sledgehammer to it. On the positive side, AT&T Wireless has great coverage in this area. |
