Worst phone ever! 2010-08-31 |
| By iluv2laflots |
| I got this phone after losing my 2nd eternity (which btw I loved. It was a great phone). When I lost my phone, the phone AT&T gave me was the Samsung Mythic(because the Eternity hadn't been made anymore). I thought that because it was the replacement for the Eternity, it would be just like it. Not exactly. With every phone I've had, there has always been some problems but not huge ones; they would freeze or shut off randomly. I've had the Samsung Mythic since April of this year. It would restart itself every now and then but it had happened in past phones so I wasn't very concerned. The more I grew used to it, the more I noticed more frequent restarts. And on T9, it adds words I never have added. Its a pain in the butt trying to type the real word you wanted, and having to search for it. Also, it now restarts itself twice a day, which is so irritating. It always does this when you try to type a message or make a call, and this always happens when I'm trying to make an important call or text. I'm afraid that one day I'll be stuck on the side of the road somewhere, with my car broken down, and my phone restarting (which takes 5-10 minutes to fully restart). So in all, this is a horrible phone, unless you don't mind getting frustrated at something twice a day. |
the worst cell phone you can buy! 2010-08-05 |
| By saynotomytic |
I got so frustrated with this samsung mytic that after 3 wks, I tossed it and went back to my old phone!
Drop calll : It drops 30% of the calls. The phone rings, you slide the "accept" bar to the right anh heard ...nothing: the call was cut off! This happens so often that you want to smash the phone again the walll anh curse AT&T for selling it!
Internet connections; forget about it, it has the speed of computers in the 1960s!
The touch screen is a joke, if you give the touch screen on Ipod or Iphone a 10, the samsung mytic gets 2. You cannot find a name in the contact list by scrolling..it would move so fast or in most of cases, not moving at all anh if you press a little harder, it would pick any name anh you have to go back to the contact list to search again! Once you find the person you want to call and you hit "call" you have no idea what the phone would do ! |
Touch screen freezes up, lags 2010-08-05 |
| By Ernie (Miami, Florida United States) |
I liked the phone at first. But, after about 6 months the touch screen started to freeze up and the applications and tools started to lag. If you like sufing the web on your phone, then this phone is NOT for you. Internet is really slow and half the time it won't connect (even though you have a strong signal). Comes with a lot of apps but none are free (AT&T). Software is buggy. Even the voice dail feature started to malfunction. Exchanging it this weekend.
All I wanted was a good quality phone. The features were secondary for me. Since the phone already started to have problems with in six months of buying it, I am giving a low rating. All I wanted was a phone that works! |
Great phone! 2010-06-22 |
| By Nancy |
Obviously, if you're used to smartphones (ex: Blackberry, IPhone, Droid) then it's probably not the phone for you. This phone is mostly for people who like to occasionally check their emails, Facebook, weather or latest news and something a little more flashy than a standard slider/flip phone. This is my first touch screen phone and I love it! These are the features that I use the most:
Texting - I have unlimited texting (finally) and I love going crazy with texts! The qwerty keyboard when you turn it is great. It's pressure sensitive so I'm happy I'm able to use my nails to text. It took me a week or so to get used to the keyboard (I had a 3 year old slider phone before) but now I'm getting better.
Internet - Again, it's mostly for checking small things like emails, Facebook, weather or latest news. Youtube does work, but heavy internet use will drain its battery. Also, the more graphics there are on the screen, then the longer it will be to load. Otherwise, load times are fine. I do occasionally get the "Unexpected Failure" notice but I just keep trying and eventually it goes through. I blame that on AT&T's network.
Battery - I only need to charge the battery every two days or less. It all depends on how long and how much you text, make calls and use the internet. Obviously if you do all three a lot, then the battery will be drained often.
Look and Feel - It is a finger print magnet, but it is very sleek! I assume it can scratch easily, but I usually never drop my phones and I have a cheap case for it to prevent every day scratches. The back is a burgundy/maroon color so it is kind of girly and so are the wallpapers. The screensaver pops up when you lock your phone, which I wish I can turn off, but oh well. The sensitivity of the touchscreen is fine by me, sometimes I find myself clicking on a link I didn't want, but I just need to get used to it.
Interface - The user interface is very intuitive and I had no problems finding my way around it all. There are three home screens you can scroll through (all can have their own wallpapers) and it is a great way to organize the widgets.
Only negative things about this phone is that sometimes the person I'm talking to has trouble hearing me sometimes and sometimes the phone freezes up while I'm texting. When it unfreeze, all the letters I put in while frozen comes rushing in.
It is a great phone for first time touch screen users and for people who occasionally use the internet. Honestly, just go to the At&t store and see if you like it yourself and try out the internet, texting and other features. I really think you won't be disappointed! |
not liking it 2010-06-03 |
| By James Hewitt |
| It is okay as a basic phone but it is very awkward for texting and I have found that when you want to change simple settings like ring tone, it is a lot less intuitive than the other recent phones that I have owned. Who has time to look at a complicated manuel? the best electronic devices are the ones that are very intuitive. |
